A Visit to Oslo!
On Stanley's last weekend in Norway he was lucky enough to take a trip into Oslo, the capital of Norway.
He went on a nice walk through Vår Frelsers Gravlund, a beautiful cemetery, and came upon the grave of Henrik Ibsen, one of the most famous Norwegian play wrights. Here's a short wikipedia article if you're interested: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V%C3%A5r_Frelsers_gravlund
He got to observe some regular apartments and buildings....
And of course he had to check out the Royal Palace. This is taken on a street called "Karl Johan" which is a famous street filled with shops and restaurants in Oslo.
Stanley fit right in in a photo from the restaurant while he was waiting for his food.
The menu at the restaurant was a perfect fit!
More about Vestfossen!
Lille Eden
It is at Fredfoss,a
conference center, in Vestfossen. When you are there, you can see flowers, a
lot of different colors, sculptures and visit a café. The preschools often
visit Lille Eden.
Norwegian forest
Our forest is
green. We have a lot of trees. In the autumn there are a lot of leaves, with
different colors. There are many people who go for a walk in the forest because
it’s wonderful nature.
Fredfoss
It’s an old
factory. Now it’s a conference center. Lots of students go there on a school
trip. There is also a workout center there.
Vestfossen church
There is a new church
in Vestfossen. It was built in 2010. Now you can go to church services there
and you can also marry there, and get confirmed.
Gymnasium/handball
We have a big gymnasium
in Vestfossen. And we have a very good handball team with some members in our
class.

Showing Stanley around Town
Today we took Stanley on a short tour of our town. We visited an old mansion, our city center, the train station, and a grocery store. It was a beautiful morning, and we had a lovely walk.
This is a picture outside of our school. It is a little difficult to see, but you can see a bit of the sunrise in the background. Since we live so far North, as winter gets closer the days get darker and darker. It is still getting light when we begin school at 8:00 am.
We have experienced some lovely Autumn weather, and the leaves are all sorts of colors. Keep reading to learn more about the places we visited!
Food!
Today Stanley got to see Vestfossen. We took him to the food store and got some typical Norwegian food such as brown cheese (goat cheese) and bread. We also got some sausages. [There are so many different types of sausages!] For breakfast we ate bread and yoghurt. There's this special type of yoghurt called "God Morgen" yoghurt that we decided to have. After a while lunch time came around and we figured out we wanted to have cafeteria food, and bought ourselves pizza rolls. For dinner we ate the sausages we had gotten earlier.

Goat cheese
We buy fresh bread almost every day. This is next to the bread slicer in the store.
Pølser! So many different kinds of sausages.
Sentrum (The Center of the City)
The train station is in the middle of the town. Our town is the art and culture capital of our county, so we have some statues in the park by the train station.
A river goes through Vestfossen. There is a boat named MS Eikeren which can take you on a trip around the lake named Eikeren.
